Is it me or has this year just flown by? It seems like just yesterday I was writing my latest update but here we are once again at the end of the month and another exciting entry is due.
I find myself reflecting back on my previous posts and I see a very distinct theme happening with my nutrition. Clearly this is a theme in my life spanning far longer than just these past few months. Until now I have just fluffed it off really but if I am truly going to be healthy long-term I know I’m going to have to dig deep on this one.
When it comes to fitness I have managed to really keep active and challenge myself in many new ways but when it comes to nutrition I simply lack self-discipline and consistency.
Most people have read that quote “you can’t out exercise a poor diet” well ladies and gentleman I am point proof, a poster child as you will of that very saying. I havent had any scale victories as of late just for that simple reason.
So what DID I accomplish since my last update? (Here’s where it gets good!) in no specific order:
The Donkey Sanctuary 5k race
CIBC Run for the cure 5k race
Scotiabank Waterfront 5k race
Niagara Falls International 10k race
3 Personal training sessions
4 Sweatcamp sessions
Stairs Challenge – Climbed 1794 stairs and walked for a total of 1.5 hrs just because! 😉
Completed Week 1 – Learn to Run program with the Running Room
Played 27 individual games of competitive volleyball
Random planks and kettle bell mini workouts just for fun at home.
So back to nutrition! See, even now I get distracted and want to avoid that topic for some reason. Clearly this is the part of my journey I really need to start focusing on…
For me, creating a better me (scale results) will come when my nutrition becomes more disciplined. I eat on the run a lot and most of the time I think I am making healthier choices but in reality unless I prepare at home I might as well consider everything I eat as a fast food.
I need to share with you all that I am really honored to have the opportunity to write for Tips of the Scale and post my progress. I take my updates very seriously so having several months with no real “scale” victories to share with you has me a little bummed out and disappointed in myself.
With that said I’ve decided to take a month off from contributing and just really get to the bottom of why I am having such an issue keeping on track with my nutrition. I’m not giving up, promise! I just need a break and I want to come back with a bang come December.
Just going to do a little good old soul-searching and reaching out for help. Good things to come I can just feel it!
Until then… Keep busy and off that couch, ok?! I’ll be in my kitchen working on my abs…..
