Motivation Monday peeps! August is over and done with. It’s a new month. How did you do last month? Did youBalance your budget, did you meet your goal weight, or set a personal record? Well, I got some terrible (or fantastic!) news for you. August 2014 is Dead. To quote Monty Python “This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be!” It’s time to set some new goals for this month. Maybe you need to reuse your goal from last month, and that’s ok. But don’t focus on the past. There is nothing that can be done about that. Learn from it, make it part of you and grow from it.
Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t get to your goal. That doesn’t matter. You have 30 FULL Days left in September. Make the most of them. Past is past and we cannot take it back. I want you to give some serious thoughts about what your goals are for this month. It’s super early, and you have plenty of time. But you won’t make your FUTURE better by focusing only on your PAST. Make this month a great month.
Ya know, two years ago, I got a tattoo (in part) so I wouldn’t be ashamed of my body at the beach. This year, I have a sick tattoo, but I also have a body I can be proud of. How? Hard work, dedication, and just buckling down and doing it. I went from practically failing at a hike I used to do easily as a kid (The Flume) to being asked to be interviewed for a podcast about weight loss and running a half marathon. I can bench my body weight, deadlift 170% of my body weight. I set monthly goals, and if I met them, awesome. If I didn’t meet them, whatever, set new goals. Constantly set and reset your goals. Stagnation is never really stagnation. It’s sliding very slowly backwards. There are only two directions: towards your goals, or away from your goals. You cannot stay neutral to your goals.
So get up, write the bones of your budget, read a chapter of a book, go for a jog around the block, or start learning a new skill. It’s the beginning of the month, folks. Make this month one to be proud of. Get out there and level up!
