Happy Motivation Monday, everyone. I want to thanks JT Matherly for pinch hitting for me (yet again). Who would have ever guessed moving made your life so busy!? Not me! So, on to the motivational stuff.
So, I have a tiny bit of a rant to get out here as well. We here at Tips of the Scale don’t sell, or endorse phony products. If you come here to learn about the magic pill, or the special clothing, or that ingenuous shake that will instantly shed the pounds off you, you won’t find that here. Why? Two main reasons. One: The products don’t really work. Two: They are insulting to you.
What do I mean by they don’t work? For these products, they use two types of before and after pictures either something fake/photoshopped like this:
Or they take REAL weight loss before/after pictures and they say that person used whatever product they are shilling (my friend Les Stratford has this happen to him quite often. And who can blame them, he lost 315 pounds! Check out his podcast!). If the product worked, they wouldn’t need to use these tricks. But they don’t, or if they do it is short term water weight loss. Squats tone your butt, not shoes. Eating well blasts belly fat, not a pill. And clothing that fits you makes you look good, not some random cloth you wrap around yourself.
The second point I wanted to make is that they are insulting. When they say that you need these special things to lose weight, they are taking away your internal strength and your agency. I don’t believe that. Sam doesn’t believe that. Nobody here at Tips of the Scale believes that. What do we believe in? You. We believe that you have the strength to overcome this challenge, with some motivation to help keep you going along if you need it.
What do we believe in? You.
So don’t fall for that stuff. You don’t need it. You are so strong, so unique, and so amazing that I don’t believe you need anything special to do it. So get out there, take charge of your life, and level up. And don’t let anyone try and tell you that you need something special for your journey, because you are special enough as it is.
