Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening everyone! My name is David Jasmin. You may recognize me from such hits as Tips of the Scale Episode 10 and… actually that’s probably it. A little bit about myself. Last year (2013), I lost 65 pounds between January and July. Since then, I have been building muscle and losing fat. My weight has stayed the same, but my pants are smaller and my arms are more muscular.
So, what’s the deal with this? Well, every Monday on my personal Facebook page I write a motivational post to my friends and family. Sam Lomeli (who you may recognize from such hits as every single Tips of the Scale episode ever) asked me if I wanted to transfer my writings here, and I was honored to do it.
What can you expect from me? Motivation (hopefully), nerd jokes (all time time), fun discourse (post a question here, I will answer), and very little proofreading Hail Hydra.
You ready to get going? Let’s start our first topic. We all have different struggles in life, times where we feel like we don’t have the right words, or the right stuff, to persevere. But in reality, that is where we prove our mettle in life.
When we feel defeated is when we have to show how far we have come. As the saying goes it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog. So you want to prove how strong you are, show what you are made of when you are feeling like you can’t go on.
In video games, it gets harder and harder to level up. Each enemy you defeat gives you just a little less experience relative to your next level. But in order to defeat the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy), the final boss, you need to struggle through the grind.
So even though it might not give you a whole new level, go out and finish a quest or two today. Those quests slowly but surely build so you can level up and reach new heights.
So go out there, make a high score, gain some experience. You might not level up, but even 1 point of experience is 1 less you need to reach the next level.
